I joined Airbnb.org at a pivotal moment when the organization was scaling quickly to meet growing humanitarian needs, but the visual identity hadn't been updated in nearly 5 years. I proposed a brand identity anchored in authentic photography and human-centered design, building systems that enabled our team to respond rapidly during crises. The result was a cohesive brand that teams could rally behind.

One month after our design team released brand guidelines, wildfires struck LA, displacing thousands of people. The design team created social content, landing pages, and partner communications based on these guidelines while moving at emergency speed. Our approach enabled the most-liked post in Airbnb history—and more importantly, helped raise donations and spread awareness to help displaced families with housing when they needed it most.
